Road to Becoming an Artist

Don's Military, Civilian, and Law Enforcement careers have allowed him to travel extensively. Don has put  his experience, education and training together to become an artist.

Military Service

Don spent 8 years in the Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Army Don was a Combat Engineer and served Overseas in Germany,  Fort Hood, TX and Fort Knox, KY.

SCUBA Diving

Don  became a PADI Master SCUBA Instructor and certified or assisted in the certification of over 750 SCUBA Divers. While diving, Don had the opportunity to travel to the Florida Keys, Caribbean,  Belize, the Netherland Antilles and the Cayman Islands.

Police Officer

Don retired from Police work after 22 years. While a Police Officer, Don studied Traffic Accident Reconstruction. Don  taught Accident Investigation at the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy  for 10 years and Traffic Accident Reconstruction at the State of Rhode Island Crime Lab (URI) for 8 years.

Painting

Don paints, draws or sketches something every day. Painting and working with different mediums helps in project designs.

Use Old for New

Using discarded items for  projects. This is an old discarded table used to place a model of Point Judith Lighthouse on the table as a wall hanging piece.

Keep trying to improve

By attending Art Shows, speaking with people about art and taking constructive feedback on how to improve.
